Cars, Coupons, and Baseball

It's been far too long since I've actually written a blog post, so I figured I would work in a few of my insane thoughts along with a current coupon special at Digi By Design.

Car:

I have had my current vehicle paid off for a few months, and since August is when prices for the "Last Year" models are slashed, my husband and I have been trying to decide which should be the vehicle I get next.  Now, I COULD drive what I have, but I will be honest with you (and no one shoot me if they have the same vehicle type and have had zero issues with it, O.K.?), the Kia Sportage I have (2002 model) was not my finest moment in choosing an automobile.  I really wanted - and I mean WANTED this one, yet I settled for something that had almost zero options for the price.  In addition, the quality of the workmanship and their service department (which I abandoned after the first year, preferring a private auto repair/maintenance shop), was just not good.  I haven't had anything major go wrong with the Kia, but really, how good is it to have three (yes, I said three) tail pipes rust out in five years, a tire carrier that rusted and peeled almost immediately, and stupid things (like door handle inserts) break?  I know, these are all small things compared to the transmission, but if you're paying 20+ thousand dollarts for a vehicle, you would expect that it would stand up better.  I know that some of these things are common among the make of car, but that only makes me more unhappy.  So this is why we are trading it in and I am buying something else.

I have also discovered that as "not girly" as I am typically, I am 100% "chick" when it comes to picking out vehicles.  I fell in love with this really pretty eggplant color that Pontiac has (Purple Haze Metallic), but of course no one has a vehicle in it now.  Also want the audio control buttons on my steering wheel.  (Hey, I figure it will make it safer for me to change the radio station lol.)  I also want a sun roof/moon roof - I had one in a rental recently (my car had been hit and was in the shop to be repaired), and fell in love with it.  As always, my husband is the voice of reason, as much as it may pain me to say so.  I need a vehicle that is either 4WD or AWD, as I live on a very large winding hill that gets more than it's share of snow and ice.  That eliminates a lot of the affordable autos that I was looking at.  The sun/moon roof thing is great in theory; but I know that as a car ages, things don't always fit together the way they're supposed to, so there's leakage.

Now that we've narrowed it down to either a Trail Blazer or Envoy (same car essentially, just one's a Chevy and the other GMC), I have to pick color and options that are not too impractical.  Easy - as long as its not black, white or yellow, I am good.  I am not so good about washing the car regularly, and I need one that won't show dirt.  The place that we will buy from though only has one on the lot that's a 2006 (and it didn't have the options I wanted, as well has having been owned by a smoker), and the other is a 2008 and is the Denali Package (umm I have no need for head light sprayers), and has little to no price incentive.  So, the dealership will do a search on the GM database and see what's available in the colors and options I want.

Did I tell you that I am not good at being patient? No? Well, I'm not rotflmao!

OK, next topic - Baseball -

I am a HUGE Red Sox fan. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I would rather be watching a game than just about anything else on television.  In fact, I have actually put game replays on the t.v. as background noise to help me get a migraine under control (who thought crowd noise was a good for that).  Well A friend of ours asked if we wanted to go to a game tonight (he gets them from his company on occasion). Yep, didn't think more than half a second on that one - you betcha I want to go!  So tonight I get to see a new pitcher that's been called up from Pawtucket, Clay Buchholtz do his thing.  I'm interested to see what he can do.

Finally, there's a coupon promotion going on at Digi By Design!

They have a back to school savings coupon of 25% off of your purchase (excluding Commercial Use and Team Kits/Grab Bags) that runs September 1st through the 30th, 2007.  There's a ton of great items there in the store, with new items being added daily, so you just can't miss with this!

Phew! That was one loong blog post - sorry for the ramble!  I am hoping that if I do this more often, then the posts will be more easily read :)

Have a great weekend!
